چکیده

Comamonas testosteroni strains belong to the family of Comamonadaceae and are known for their ability to utilize steroid compounds as carbon source. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of strain ATCC 11996, with a G+C content of 61.48%.

Draft Genome Sequence of Comamonas testosteroni R2, Consisting of Aromatic Compound Degradation Genes for Phenol Hydroxylase

Comamonas testosteroni strain R2 was isolated from a continuous culture enriched by a low concentration of phenol-oxygenating activities with low Ks values (below 1 μM). The draft genome sequence of C. testosteroni strain R2 reported here may contribute to determining the phenol degradation gene cluster.

TeiR, a LuxR-type transcription factor required for testosterone degradation in Comamonas testosteroni.

We have identified a new steroid-inducible gene (designated teiR [testosterone-inducible regulator]) in Comamonas testosteroni that is required for testosterone degradation. Nucleotide sequence analysis of teiR predicts a 391-amino-acid protein which shows homology between residues 327 and 380 (C-terminal domain) to the LuxR helix-turn-helix DNA binding domain and between residues 192 and 227 t...

Steroid degradation in Comamonas testosteroni.

Steroid degradation by Comamonas testosteroni and Nocardia restrictus have been intensively studied for the purpose of obtaining materials for steroid drug synthesis. C. testosteroni degrades side chains and converts single/double bonds of certain steroid compounds to produce androsta-1,4-diene 3,17-dione or the derivative. Following 9α-hydroxylation leads to aromatization of the A-ring accompa...

Steroid degradation and two steroid-inducible enzymes in the marine bacterium H5.

Natural and synthetic steroid hormones excreted into the environment are potentially threatening the population dynamics of all kinds of animals and public health. We have previously isolated a steroid degrading bacterial strain (H5) from the Baltic Sea, at Kiel, Germany. 16S-rRNA analysis showed that bacterial strain H5 belongs to the genus Vibrio, family Vibrionaceae and class Gamma-Proteobac...

A new bacterial steroid degradation gene cluster in Comamonas testosteroni TA441 which consists of aromatic-compound degradation genes for seco-steroids and 3-ketosteroid dehydrogenase genes.

In Comamonas testosteroni TA441, testosterone is degraded via aromatization of the A ring, which is cleaved by the meta-cleavage enzyme TesB, and further degraded by TesD, the hydrolase for the product of TesB. TesEFG, encoded downstream of TesD, are probably hydratase, aldolase, and dehydrogenase for degradation of 2-oxohex-4-enoicacid, one of the products of TesD. Here we present a new and un...
